On April 24, police observed a weaving Ford Mustang driving in a serpentine motion on York Road.
The officer talked to the driver, who smelled like booze and appeared to be lethargic. She said she following a friend home to make sure he got there safely.
When asked about the odor, the woman admitted to having one drink. She also thought the officer had pulled her over for going through a yellow light.
The officer explained that a driver can’t run a yellow light, only a red light. As for the weaving, the woman said that was due to a deer in the road. She said she went wide to make sure the person following her was aware of the animal.
The officer noted that he didn’t observe any deer in the area.
After failing a field sobriety test, during which she lost her balance, the woman was arrested for drunken driving. She was also cited for weaving.
On April 24, police observed a weaving Jeep on York Road.
When told about the weaving, the driver -- who was headed home after attending a birthday party -- told the officer that it was due to the fact that he was on his phone.
He denied drinking; however, as the driver exited the Jeep, police observed a bottle of Smirnoff Ice spilling into the street.
After failing a field sobriety test, during which he swayed his arms, the man was arrested for drunken driving.
During a search of the Jeep, police found a Glock and drugs that tested positive for fentanyl. The man was also charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, drug abuse, weaving and open container.
