87 years of expert advice and inspiration, for every couple.

When two content creators get together, it truly makes love go viral. That’s exactly what happened when actor and model Chase Mattson proposed to TikTok superstar Kelianne Stankus—and their fairytale wedding is sure to be further proof.

In fact, social media is at the very core of their relationship; it’s how they first met. A month and a half into the pandemic, newly on her way to 10 million TikTok followers, gymnast and entertainer Kelianne discovered Chase on her Instagram Explore page and slid into his DMs. DMing turned to FaceTiming, which led to a real-life date—and just a month later, they were official. Brides even took an even closer look at their modern love story in our Grooms digital issue!

“We got engaged on December 12, 2020,” Kelianne recounts. “Chase planned a full day of surprises. It started with a helicopter ride to this private place in the Malibu mountains. He had a full picnic set up and proposed to me there. Then we headed back home and had all my family and friends at the house for a surprise engagement party.”

Wedding planning was a breeze because their visions—like most other aspects of their lives—were so aligned. “Luckily Chase and I have very similar taste, and we both knew we wanted it to look very elegant,” Kelianne says. “We were always on the same page with the color scheme and decor.” The vision was an enchanted fairytale forest, done in a neutral color palette with accents of black and gold."

They locked in their venue—Serendipity in Glen Oak, California—in early summer 2021, about a year before their wedding date; the timing was perfect so they could get a feel for what the foliage would look like at that time of year. “We loved how secluded the venue felt, and we were surrounded by trees and flowers everywhere,” Kelianne says. “We knew we wanted something outside and in California, where we both grew up.”

From there they put things in more capable hands, those of wedding planner Christine Chang. “The couple trusted me in vetting and hiring vendors that had the ability to deliver the designs and needs for the overall wedding,” says Christine, founder of Live.Love.Create Events. “The vendors were extremely diverse, from veterans in the industry to up-and comers, and from all kinds of backgrounds that reflected the couple and their guests.”

“Having a wedding planner was the best decision ever,” Kelianne says. “We wanted to enjoy the process and not feel overwhelmed while planning our big day.”

She and Chase said “I do” in front of 120 guests on June 9, 2022, with a fairytale ceremony—complete with horse-drawn carriage—and chic neutral reception. Read on to see all the dreamy details, planned by Christine Chang of Live.Love.Create Events and photographed by Madison Emily Hare Photography.

Kelianne was diligent about skincare leading up to the big day. “I have my regular morning and nighttime routine I always follow, but I was extra strict a month before the wedding, making sure my face was extra clean and super moisturized,” she says. “I also didn’t use any new products about a month before, because I wasn’t sure how my skin would react.” As for any bigger treatments? “I did a microneedling facial about five weeks before,” she adds. “I loved the way it made my skin look and feel.”

Her makeup was glam with an elevated, elegant twist. “My hairstylist, Chrissy, and I kept sending each other hair inspiration pictures literally until the day of,” Kelianne says. “We knew we wanted glam waves, but honestly it all came together that day.”

She finished the look with simple, classic French tip nails, and a spritz of her all-time favorite fragrance, Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian.

The bride wore two Berta gowns throughout the day, starting with a sparkle-all-over ballgown. “I knew the moment I tried it on,” she recalls. “I wanted a very sparkly dress and I don’t think anyone does sparkly better than Berta. It was everything I dreamed of. I cried, my mom cried, and all my friends cried. It was a sweet moment.”

Kelianne had six of her closest friends join her at her side. They all donned chic champagne dresses to fit in with the color palette and carried similar white and green blooms as the bride.

Chase’s skincare regimen is simple—“I just wash my face in the morning and night, and apply face lotion so my skin isn’t dry,” he says—but his famous hair requires some maintenance. A barber gave him a fresh cut onsite the morning of the wedding. Add a dash of his favorite scent, Aqua Di Gio Absolu, and he was ready to suit up.

Chase looked sophisticated in a fitted black tapered suit with white dress shirt and black buttons, and modernized the look with a black leather bow tie with a gold floral vine, black cuff links with gold flakes inside, and a gold pocket square. To accessorize, “I wore silver cuffs and rings from Buck Palmer, custom vintage black-and-gold Ray Bans, and Christian Louboutin red bottom loafers to bring the look all together,” he says. The finishing touch? “A white rose boutonniere, which is Kelianne’s favorite flower."

To see them happy for me on my big day made me feel invincible.

The couple waited until the altar to see each other for the first time, but Chase did do a first look—with his daughters Hazel and Nora. “For me, it was just a surreal moment; it made my heart soar out of my chest,” he says. “I’m a big girl dad and my daughters are everything to me, so to see them happy for me on my big day made me feel invincible.”

"It was very easy for me to pick out my groomsmen because they are all my brothers," notes Chase. "We grew up together playing football, baseball, and surfing." The groomsmen looked dapper in modern Men's Wearhouse suits paired with black shirts underneath. Chase's classic white shirt helped him stand out.

The groom adds, "My best man choice was a no brainer. Christian Hogue has been my best friend practically since the day we met. He is the best friend a guy could ask for and amazing godfather to my daughters. These are the men I want standing by me forever."

“Kelianne and Chase wanted to keep florals as natural as possible for their wedding altar—something that was going to add to what was already existing at the venue,” planner Christine Chang says. “I designed floor arrangement pieces with white blooms —Kelianne’s favorite—with tall pampas grasses and greenery in a semi-circle formation so they can stand in front surrounded by flowers as they were getting married.” Then, there was the dramatic entrance—two gorgeous doors at the top of the aisle. “We added florals and pampas arrangements around the doors to frame Kelianne’s entrance, so the first look down the aisle could be perfect.”

Hazel and Nora, along with the bride’s cousin Libby, served as flower girls. “They all wore long sparkly dresses by Sherri Hill to complement my dress,” Kelianne says. “They walked to the end the the aisle and Chase walked up to each of them and gave them a hug and kiss.”

Then Kelianne began her walk down the aisle, accompanied by her dad, as Sleeping At Last’s “Turning Page” played. “Seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle was so special,” she remembers. “It felt like we were the only people there.”

Chase couldn’t agree more. “Once I saw my beautiful wife walking down the aisle,” he says, “I never fell more in love with someone in that moment.”

“We both waited until the day of to write our vows,” Kelianne shares. "But, it wasn’t hard because we both knew what we wanted to say—we just had to put it on paper.”

Being taken away in a horse and carriage after the ceremony was a magical moment.

After sealing it with a kiss, the couple recessed down the aisle in joyful celebration—and then the fairytale truly began. “Being taken away in a horse and carriage after the ceremony was a magical moment,” Kelianne says. “It was our first time together being husband and wife; it was all so surreal.”

As the newlyweds rode off toward their happily ever after, guests headed into cocktail hour, where they sipped mango margaritas with Casa del Sol tequila and blackberry vodka lemonades. The signature drinks were displayed on a chic wooden sign, designed by Christine and laser cut by the bride’s aunt.

When it came to selecting vendors, Kelianne and Chase left most of the decisions to their planner. “We were very picky when it came to videography and photographers though,” the bride says. They ultimately went with Madison Emily Hare, who took them out for two separate portrait sessions—one right after “I do,” and one as the sun set behind the stunning landscape.

The outdoor reception was an idyllic scene. “Guest tables were also adorned with endless candles, greenery garlands, and white blooms,” Christine says. “Lighting was a huge deal for Kelianne since she loves sparkly things, so we not only added candles everywhere but incorporated string lighting and chandeliers to the overall design.”

“Place settings were also super important to the couple,” Christine continues. “We chose a rattan charger with clean classic white china and gold flatware. Whimsical white table runners added a touch of softness to the exposed wood tables.” Personalized menus peeking out of neutral napkins helped guests find their seats.

“A great wedding hack is being resourceful and designing floral arrangements that can be used for the ceremony and reception,” shares Christine. “The floor arrangement pieces used for the altar were moved to the sides of the couple’s sweetheart and cake tables.”

“Take a lot of mental pictures because it goes by fast,” Kelianne advises other couples. “Also, don’t be afraid to cut convos short so you can see other people and eat your dinner!”

The couple’s dear friend, singer Alexander Stewart, performed Elvis Presley’s “Love Me Tender” live while the couple shared their first dance as newlyweds. “It was a very special moment,” Kelianne says. Next, the bride and her father danced to “Daughters” by John Mayer; then Chase and his mom danced to “You Will Always Be My Son.”

“I think the hardest part was picking the music for all the special moments,” Kelianne admits. “I was on so many different Spotify playlists for months just listening to song after song.”

Midway through the reception, Kelianne changed into her second Berta gown—this one a sexy long-sleeve style with a crystal-embellished illusion deep V neck and feathered sleeves. It was the perfect gown for dancing, and a high ponytail completed the party-ready look.

Their three-tier cake—one tier of carrot and two of strawberry shortcake—was displayed on a custom cake stand with vinyl lettering. They cut into the main attraction then served miniature cake pops in the same flavors.

The most unique entertainment? An onsite tattoo artist. “Chase got a tattoo in the middle of our reception!” Kelianne shares. “He got my initial with a heart.”

Kelianne and Chase danced late into the night, then made their grand exit under a tunnel of sparklers, setting off for an incredible honeymoon in the Bahamas. Their whirlwind romance has already gone viral once. Now with a new joint YouTube channel "Meet The Mattsons" and rings on their fingers, it’s only just begun.
