In my opinion, going for brunch is an ideal weekend activity.

So when I found out that Duke Street Market was launching a new brunch menu, I jumped at the opportunity to try it out. Located in a 100-year old building that has been restored into a stylish culinary hub, Duke Street Market is an attractive and spacious venue, and I was impressed by its aesthetic as soon as I walked in.

The exposed brickwork helps to maintain its traditional feel, whilst the bright décor hanging lampshades and plants add a modern touch. Brunch runs every Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 12pm. The venue doesn't take bookings, so you can just walk in.

I visited Duke Street Market on a Saturday and started off by ordering an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. I'm a huge coffee fan though have never really been a fan of the iced version. But it was a hot day and I was wanting a cold drink so I decided to give it a go - and I'm so glad I did. The coffee tasted incredible and the addition of the vanilla made it sweet and refreshing.

The combination of the vanilla and oat milk was dreamy and I'll never go without a shot of syrup again. The drink cost £4.50 and was well worth it, I would definitely come here again just for the coffee and even choose it over my trusty regular chain.

In terms of the food menu, you are really spoiled for choice with so many delicious dishes to choose from. Options include hash browns and salsa roja, avocado on toast, breakfast burritos and a full English breakfast. I have a sweet tooth so I was drawn to the French toast, which costs £7 and is served with berry compote, fresh berries and Chantilly cream.

Ordering is easy as you can just scan the QR code on your table, sit back and wait for your food to arrive. I didn't have to wait long before I was greeted with a generous portion of French toast that looked delicious.

The French toast was perfect, the bread was thick yet light and fluffy and was topped with a dusting of sugar. It was served with blueberries, blackberries and strawberries, which added the sweetness I was craving. The cream really brought the dish together, it was smooth and refreshing and acted as a nice contrast to the tanginess of the fruit compote.

The dish was very filling, so much so that I couldn't finish it despite enjoying each bite. In my opinion, it's great value for money as you get a decent sized portion that tastes incredible. The vibe of Duke Street Market was great too, from the aesthetic décor to the friendly staff and easy ordering system.

It was my first time visiting and I will definitely be back again to try some of the other brunch dishes - and order another iced coffee of course. To find out more about Duke Street Market, click here
