Rentals often require lighting upgrades–whether it involves turning a basic chandelier into a statement piece or adding a floor lamp to brighten up the space. If you’re in need of new renter-friendly lighting ideas, you can make a pendant out of mixing bowls and remote-controlled LED lights that can also help you save on your electric bill.
TikToker @emilyrayna shared a tutorial for the pendant light DIY. Here’s what you’ll need: two mixing bowls (one big and one small), three LED lights (or however many fit in your selected mixing bowls), spray paint, clear enamel, a hook, cord, and glue. Some of the items are optional. If you don’t want to spray paint the bowls, feel free to go without. Once you have everything you need, spray the mixing bowls with paint and enamel if you plan to go that route. Glue the bottoms of the bowls together with a strong adhesive, like Gorilla Construction Adhesive. When that’s dry, glue the LED lights into the larger mixing bowl and a hook inside of the smaller mixing bowl. Depending on what your ceiling looks like, you can hang it with cord or use another hook and cord to get the job done.
